KAPA‘A, KAUA‘I, HI – Huffpost Hawai‘i, a regional issue of Huffingpost reported that Kapa‘a, on Kaua‘i’s Royal Coconut Coast, as among one of the 18 most underrated places in the U.S. The featured article was originated by GlobalYodel, one of Huffington Post’s travel resources. The rating, published in June, went to places the authors considered, “incredible but rarely making lists of top destinations by traditional travel media.” The article quotes Kaua‘i resident and student, Jackson Koorenoff, in support of this distinction. “Kaua’i is one of the last examples of real Hawai‘i. It is the closest you can get to seeing what life was like before skyscrapers, freeways, and hundreds and hundreds of visitors. Kaua’i is little slice of heaven. Pure Aloha in its most true form.” Also on the list, in alphabetical order were, Anacortes, WA; Beaufort, SC; Berkeley, CA, Des Moines, IA; Detroit, MI; Duluth MN; Flagstaff, AZ; Grand Rapids, MI; Greensboro, AL; Madison, WI; Montara, CA; Palouse, WA; Pine Plains, NY; Sweard AK; Sisters, OR; Spokane, WA, and Tupper Lake, NY.
“Kapa’a is filled with surprises,” says Hilmy Dole, president of the Royal Coconut Coast Association. “Our visitors often share their new discoveries when they come back to their hotels in the evening, totally delighted with what they’ve found and amazed with the vibrancy of such a small-town community, right here on Kaua‘i.”
