Event Description

E Kanikapila Kakou (EKK), an annual weekly celebration of Hawaiian music and dance, invites you to a season of exploring and understanding the relationship between the songs and dances of Hawai‘i and the life and times of its people  Each event takes place on a Monday for six weeks starting February 2nd.

All performances are at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center in Lihue from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

EKK, opens its 2026 season with Mālie Foundation and the Garden Island Arts Council presenting “Hula Life All Over the World,”  led by by four awesome kumuhula – Maka Herrod, Troy Hinano Lazarro, Laʻelaʻe Elise Guirao, and Lihau Paik (kumu means teacher or knowledgeable one.)

Hula “wanna-beʻs” have this extraordinary opportunity to explore the hula stylings of exceptional Kauaʻi kumu hula.  Itʻs a night where every audience member is invited to dance and experience the joy and beauty of this beloved dance form.

Some of the highlights of the new venue include a Boroboro Boutique pop-up each week; a weekly ‘ukulele giveaway, plus food and drink available for purchase — adding to the festive, kanikapila-style atmosphere audiences have come to love.

E Kanikapila Kakou tickets are  organized by The Garden Island Arts Council which are $25 for adults and $15 for kama‘aina. Go here to purchase.
