Join us for a ho‘olaulea (Hawaiian celebration or festival) honoring our ocean’s abundance while also honoring cultural richness and preservation of our ocean. The Ko‘olau Limu Fesitval is a tribute to traditional limu pickers (Hawaiian seaweed*) of Anahola Village, of the pae‘aina o Hawai‘i (Hawaiian archipelago), and is the new generation of emerging limu stewards. Hosted by the Hosea Lovell Foundation’s Ho‘olau Lahui Hawai‘i Koolau Limu Project. this free event lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring:
* Limu palahalaha is a common algae found in Hawaiian waters, often being the dominant species in intertidal and shallow subtidal zones. It is also called “sea lettuce,” and id used as nourishment and ornamentation in traditional hula.
