Event Description

E Kanikapila Kakou (EKK), Kauaiʻs annual weekly celebration of Hawaiian music and dance, invites you to a season of exploring and understanding the relationship between the songs and dances of Hawai‘i and the life and times of its people  Each event takes place on a Monday for six weeks. Coming up is the second event on February 9th.

All performances are at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center in Lihue from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning group Kulāiwi is comprised of Lehua Kalima, Shawn Pimental and Kawika Kahiapo who are all veterans of the Hawaiʻi music industry. This performance includes hula ʻstylingsʻ of dancer extraordinare, Pono Fernandez.  Kulāiwi was formed with the hopes of reconnecting kānaka (the Hawaiian indigenous people)  to ʻāina (respect for the land) through mele (song), moʻolelo (stories) and hula. Their music will touch your soul. I ola ka lāhui Hawaiʻi!
