Event Description

Heiva I Kauai is a colorful and exciting 2-day Tahitian cultural event at Kapaa Beach Park featuring group and solo dance and drumming competition for children and adults. The event takes place at Kapaa Beach Park on August 3rd and 4th from 10 am to 5 pm. Participants attend from Hawaii, the continental US and Japan. Traditional costumes, songs, music, legends and stories of Tahiti are included in the program. Vendors sell a wide variety of gifts, crafts, clothing, jewelry and accessories, including black pearl and mother of pearl items along with delicious ethnic food. Admission is $8, 12 & under FREE.

Solo competition is on Saturday 8/3/24. Keiki (children) to kapuna (older generation) performance are from am to 5pm.

The Fire Knife Competition is on Saturday evening, starting at 6 p.m. Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free. With support of the Samoan FireKnife Community worldwide, we are fortunate to have fireknife dancers this year representing fireknife groups from O’ahu, Maui, Moloka’i, Hawai’i Island, California, Utah and Kaua’i, competing in multiple divisions.
