Make a Difference Day in Lydgate Park 2024
If you’re available, please come lend a hand with the Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park on Saturday morning, October 19, 2024, 8:30 AM to lunch.Sign in at the Main Pavilion.
Please help make this our biggest community workday ever! Here’s our planned scope:
- conduct the usual beach cleanup at Morgan’s Ponds,
- send crews around the park on litter patrols,
- collaborate with the Surfrider Foundation on coastal marine debris extraction,
- celebrate the 30th anniversary of building Kamalani Playground with maintenance & artwork refresh projects,
- support the Disc Golf Kauai Ohana’s course improvements,
- host Mayor Kawakami, former Mayor Maryann Kusaka, Kauai County Council members, a delegation from the Hawai’i Bicycling League, and Rails to Trails staff from the continent to celebrate the Ke Ala Hele Makālae induction into the Rails to Trails Conservancy’s Hall of Fame,
- stage a guided bicycle adventure on Ke Ala Hele Makalae (sign-up required),
- raffle awesome prizes (Mahalo Star 94.3!), and
- Wear water shoes or sports shoes, hat and sunscreen. BYO leaf rake if you have one.
- Weʻre serving a gourmet lunch & snacks (with vegan & vegetarian options!)
