Event Description

Join in on a day of malama ‘aina (caring for the land) and education at the Hihiakalahau Heiau at the mouth of the Wailua River and the eastern end of Lydgate Beach Park from 8:30 am to 2 pm.

Hikinaakala Heiau, meaning “Rising Sun Temple,” is a sacred and historically significant site on Kauai’s eastern shore,  This ancient Hawaiian temple once played a vital role in religious ceremonies dedicated to the rising sun, reflecting the deep connection between Hawaiian culture and nature.
