Renovations on Kauai’s Royal Coconut Coast Top $20 Million
Over the past 24 months nine popular hotels and condominium resorts in Kauai’s Royal Coconut Coast Association have undergone significant property renovations, investing close to $20 million on upgrading interiors, exteriors, landscaping, public areas, furnishings and décor. Another half million dollars has gone into the area’s Wailua Golf Course.
KAPAA, KAUAI, HI – (May 29, 2013) – A number of lodging properties in the Royal Coconut Coast Association, on Kauai’s east side, have made significant investments in upgrading their facilities and completing renovations over the past two years. Amounting to a collective price tag of close to $20 million, improvements to public areas, dining areas, building exteriors, room interiors, landscaping, pool facilities, tennis courts and commercial space have been completed at nine different resorts in the region. These include Aston Aloha Beach Resort, Kaha Lani, Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy, Kauai Sands Hotel, Plantation Hale, Pono Kai Resort, Outrigger Lae Nani and Outrigger Waipouli . In addition, a total renovation for Kauai Kailani will be completed in September 2013. The Wailua Golf Course, also located on the Royal Coconut Coast, has received over a half million dollars in upgrades.

The Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach undertook one of the largest projects with a $13 million dollar price tag. The improvements resulted in a completely new lobby and entrance along with significant upgrades to dining outlets, recreation areas and resort grounds. Pono Kai Resort spent over $1.3 million on new paint along with upgrading the pool area and tennis courts. The Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy put $1.2 million into freshening building exteriors and interiors along with upgrading the pool area and grounds. Another $1 million was spent at Plantation Hale Suites creating 60 new deluxe suites, with plans to add another 25 deluxe suites in 2013. Outrigger Waipouli spent close to $800,000 on a new fitness center, and pool updates along with upgrading the lobby and commercial areas. Kaha Lani, at a cost of $470,000, freshened paint, building exteriors and lanais. The Aston Aloha Beach Resort spent a quarter million dollars replacing bedding and linens, upgrading guest laundry areas and improving wi-fi access. Outrigger Lae Nani made improvements to landscaping and tennis courts. Another resort, Kauai Kailani, is undergoing a complete renovation, converting the former apartment-type property into 57 new two and three bedroom condominium units, many with oceanfront views. The resort will re-open September, 2013. At the Wailua Golf Course, almost $600,000 has been spent on replacing turf, water lines, scoreboards and apron areas.
The Royal Coconut Coast region of Kauai is located between the towns of Wailua and Kapaa. It also referred to as Kauai’s East Side. The region is home to the famous Wailua River, a dozen resorts and hotels, several small inns and vacation rental properties as well as numerous restaurants and shops.
