Establishing an in-depth farm to table food experience, Tasting Kauai, operated by Marta Lane, has recently expanded its tours adding “farm to table” culinary experiences on Kauai’s north and south shores. Currently operating a Farmer’s market tour in Kapaa, Marta, a seasoned editor and writer on food topics, strives to connect visitors to Kauai’s culinary uniqueness. Each tour shares tasty trends and intimate connections with residents who grow and make food. Tour guests will also meet local farmers and have an opportunity to taste exotic fruit in the midst of the Garden Island’s lush surroundings. Space is limited to 10 people per tour and reservations are required. Guests meet farmers, chefs and food artisans on these exclusive food tours, which are centered on the regional cuisine of Hawaii, where the host community lives, eats and plays. The Kapaa Farmer’s Market Tour is on Wednesdays. The South Shore culinary tour is also offered on Wednesdays. The North Shore Culinary Tour is offered on Tuesdays. For more details go to TastingKauai.com.
For the new South Shore Tour, the stops are a celebration of street food inspired by Hawaii’s diverse cultures, including fresh Japanese food, street tacos, Hawaiian staple foods and tropical gelato (while it’s being made). This unique food tour concludes at the Kaua‘i Culinary Market, which is Kaua‘i’s premiere gourmet farmers market. The new North Shore tour is a flavorful adventure to out-of-the way establishments that includes tastings of products made with exotic fruit, traditional Hawaiian food and Tiki cocktails.
